Edna Ratliff

Born in 1907, Edna Ratliff grew up in Butler, Oklahoma. Soon after moving to Oklahoma City to attend business school, she joined the Liberty National Bank staff in the 1930s and quickly made her mark on the industry.

During her 48-year career with the bank, Mrs. Ratliff was highly regarded by her co-workers and assumed the role of teacher and trainer for many of the younger trust officers. Her expertise led her to become one of the first female trust officers in the United States.

When it came to planning her estate, Mrs. Ratliff wanted to repay the community that had offered her not only a rewarding career, but also a home. Following her death in 2000, a gift from her estate established the Edna A. Ratliff Legacy Fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The fund annually supports a number of charitable organizations and causes that were important to Mrs. Ratliff.
