Sulie Andres grew up in Waco, Texas, where she attended high school and would later graduate from Baylor University. She married fellow Baylor graduate, Hoyt Tompkins Andres.
Sulie may have been born a Texan, but she became an Oklahoman in 1946 when she started calling Oklahoma City her permanent home. The couple relocated because Hoyt took a job with WKY Radio and later WKY Television.
Deeply connected with her community and a loved member of her congregation at the Presbyterian Church, in 1999, she established a fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation that supports The Urban Mission. Sulie died in 2012 at age 97.
