Ray Anthony acquired his unflappable attitude towards life’s ups and downs during his long career with the C.R. Anthony Company, his family’s Oklahoma-based retail business.
Mr. Anthony graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1934, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary business fraternity. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving on a B-29 combat crew. He flew 35 missions, received an air medal, 2 oak leaves and a Distinguished Flying Cross. He returned to the family business in 1945 and served as chairman of the board until 1987.
Mr. Anthony served as a Trustee of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation from 1985-94, and his contributions supported YMCA, Variety Health Center and other charitable interests.
