An adventurer at heart, Nola Casey joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served her country by assisting the USO entertaining the troops. Her time in the Marines fostered her love for entertaining and fitness. After the war, she used the GI Bill to give her the opportunity for education, earning a bachelor's degree from East Central University and a masters degree from Oklahoma State University.
Nola began her teaching career at Mason High School before her sense of adventure led her to the New Mexico School for the Blind and later to Anchorage, Alaska. She retired from teaching in 1973 and returned to Oklahoma where she worked for the Okfuskee County Department of Human Services.
Nola's passion for learning and love for her community led her to leave a gift in her estate to create a scholarship for students. After her death in 2016, the Nola Casey Scholarship was established at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to support students graduating from Mason High School in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma.
