A native of Pipestone, Minnesota, Herman Meinders moved to Oklahoma City soon after graduating high school and attended Oklahoma City University for one year before becoming a traveling salesman. His tenacity and good business sense soon led him to venture out on his own where he built the world's largest floral directory service, American Floral Services.
In 1986, Herman married LaDonna Kramer. The farm girl from Loyal, Oklahoma, really blossomed studying music at Oklahoma City University. In 1956, she represented our state as Miss Oklahoma, showcasing her talent as a pianist. In addition to being an accomplished pianist, LaDonna is also the author of three books.
The couple shares a love for Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University, and over the years, they have showcased this through their support of the community. They have contributed to a number of charitable funds as well as established endowments at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation that support the Oklahoma History Center, Myriad Botanical Gardens and scholarships for students at the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University.
