Fisher Ames and his wife Jewell Turner were lifelong Oklahoma City residents. Fisher Ames attended Harvard and OU Law School while being an active fraternity and honor society member. Jewell was a graduate of Classen High School and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. During World War II, Fisher served in naval intelligence for four years, resigning with the rank of commander. In addition to raising two daughters. Jewell was a dedicated and longtime volunteer for many organizations in Oklahoma City.
One of the earliest supporters of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, the Jewells made contributions to the Fund for Oklahoma City. Fisher died in 1991 and Jewell in 2001, but their charitable legacy will long be remembered.
